About Kids Invent!

Kids Invent! Curriculum

Kids Invent! curriculum stimulates the creative abilities of children by having them design and build projects. These projects have kids solving science and engineering problems. As they develop their projects, kids learn to present their concepts to other students, demonstrate their ideas, and think through the practical issues of design, performance, and functionality.

Our goal at Kids Invent! is to provide standards-based curriculum that will inspire creativity and innovation in children of all ages. We challange teachers and parents to teach their children science through hands-on activities which focus on the learner rather than the teaching and our Creative Learning Modules are set up to allow just that.

Dr Ed Sobey, co-founder of Kids Invent! being interviewed on Channel News Asia in Dec 2010, giving insights to what Kids Invent! is all about and what it stands for.

Here's a testimony given by Mr Gan, who shared his observations as a parent, over the entire camp from 5th to 9th December 2011. He pointed out the philosophy and pedagogy that empowered the kids and made them eager to learn and wanting to improve.

Kids Holiday Camp Activities from Kids Invent!

Kids learn how to invent and the basics of entrepreneurship at these week-long camps, filled with great kids summer camp activities. Each camp is packed with 35-hours of active learning with kids working in small teams to create toys, robots, video, or kinetic gizmos.

Our popular camps provide hours of hands on learning that have kids thinking, solving problems, building, testing, and having fun! Each camp is based around an integrated theme where kids utilize what they have learned at each stage of the project. Build robots, create a movie, sail across the sea, or launch the next hot toy.

Camp curriculum includes:
  • Kids Invent! Toys
  • Kids Invent! Robots
  • The Wright Stuff – Flying Toys
  • Kids Create Digital Videos
  • Holiday Toy Makers
  • Locomotion
  • Titanic Triumphs
  • Kids Invent! Mechanical Toys (2 day camp)
  • Radio Control Cars (3 day camp)

Here's an example of what the kids can do. Kids at a Kids Invent! Holiday Camp in September 2011 created an “Angry Birds” Board Game.

Kids Invent! Afterschool Science Activities

Kids Invent! Afterschool Science Activities help teach your kids about science, creativity, and innovation. Our 90 minutes of fun and hands-on creativity workshops culminate at the end of the year with an inventor’s fair in which kids are able to show off what they’ve created through the year!

Kids work in small teams to solve, design, and build challenges each week. As their innovation skills grow they take on more challenging projects.

We offer two after school workshops geared towards getting kids excited about science. There is something for kids of all ages!
  • Kids Invent! Toys – Afterschool
  • Totally Kinetic
Whether you are an afterschool educator, a stay at home mom, or a teacher looking to add some creative science activities to your curriculum, our afterschool programs have something for you.

Standards-based Science and Technology Activities

These activities launch kids into learning standards-based science and technology. Kids learn as great inventors do – they start with their own ideas, and use their creativity to build a prototype, test it, and improve it. Along the way they learn the science concepts and the methods of science. Best of all, they learn to love science.

Our Creative Learning Activities are grouped in teamed modules which contain multiple related Creative Learning Activities. A sample list of our Creative Learning Activity Modules is as below:
